I need some advice on how to get my baby down for his nap! He just turned two and has mastered flipping himself out of the crib. My honey took the front of the crib off, but then put it back on a day later because we couldn't get him to settle down at all - at eleven p.m. he was tickling and giggling.
So what do I do? I can't give up on naps. I really need some sane time. If I lay with him I'll fall asleep myself! Which doesn't sound half-bad, but then I won't get any writing done.
Wow, whine, whine, whine today, eh? Sorry friends, I'm just desperate for the naps to continue until he's five!
Tomorrow's a cardio day. Hope you find something fun to do - Cami

A friend of mine had the same problem with her little boy. He would crawl out at nap time and all hours of the night! So she went on line and found a company that made crib tents. It's a mesh tent that fits on your baby's crib (how cool is that? You could totally talk that up with him!) you put the kid in and then it zips up on the OUTSIDE.
I found a product review from a mom that tried it and then another link to a web site that sells them. (You could shop around though and look for the best price.)

This really worked well for my friend - so it might be worth a try! Good luck!

I used to play flute music, we like Carlos Naki, and read a book to my son. Yes I fell asleep with him. I have only one, so no big deal and the nap was needed. If you can heal, music, relax and nap.
He got into the routine, also we'd be out evey morning so after lunch he was ready fro a nice rest.
What a great idea. After stories, I try to sing to my little guy - he pinches my lips and says, "Shush!" I'm going to try some comforting music, then maybe we can both relax!
Thanks for the advice.
I was going to suggest music (Edie's nephew used to settle down nicely to Enya...even if not asleep, he would lay still and quiet until he did fall asleep. A friend of mine put a screensaver on her TV or an old computer monitor or....gee, I don't know how she did it...but it was one of those screensavers with the fish swimming around in the sea and the sound of water and waves and gurgling bubbles...her child would watch it from the bed/crib until lulled to sleep by it. So, either music or sounds that he likes or something visual that holds their quiet attention to go along with it.
